I recently had the opportunity to attend Gabrielle Bernstein‘s lecture at the Natural Living Expo.

We laughed…we cried…we meditated!  Gabby discussed the Five Sutras of the Aquarian Age and gave us a preview of her new book, Miracles Now.

Yogi Bhajan’s Five Sutras of the Aquarian Age

1. Recognize that the other person is you.

This is a beautiful approach to life.  It encourages us to see the world through a lens of oneness.  The people we encounter reflect back what we see in ourselves.  The light we see in someone else is the light we know is inside of us.  Additionally, and harder to get on board with, what stresses us out about someone else is something we need to address within ourselves.

I frequently listen to the beautiful song, One, by India.Arie while in meditation.  The lyrics greatly connect me to this sutra.

“We are a human kind of 7 billion
so many different races and religions
And it all comes down to one.” One, India.Arie

2. There is a way through every block.

This sutra is freeing.  When stress is creeping in, I recite “There is a way through every block.” to myself and instantly feel release.  Through our breath, meditation, beliefs, openness, and actions we can move through and past whatever is blocking us.  There is a Kundalini meditation that I rely on to bust through – Ego Eradicator.

3. When the time is on you, start, and the pressure will be off.

Now is the time.  Now.  Get up.  Speak up.  Show up.  Do it.  Come from a place of yes. Tweet this!  I recently wrote about this topic and have been following my own advice.  When I’m feeling anxious or pressure to do something, I just get started.  I do what I can, in the moment, and the pressure lifts.  Once the pressure is off, your mind is opened up to the possibilities.

4.  Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.

Compassion is a spirit junkie requirement!  Compassion comes from connecting to the first sutra, a lens of oneness.  You can have a greater understanding of the world (and yourself) when you understand that everyone suffers in some way and come from a place of service and kindness.  Imagine what we could accomplish if everyone approached life with an attitude of relieving the suffering of someone (or something) around you.

5. Vibrate the cosmos, and the cosmos shall clear the path.

Who doesn’t want to vibrate?!  This is my favorite part of Gabby’s 5 Sutra’s lectures because it means that we’re about to meditate together.  Vibrating with the cosmos is about clearing your mind, connecting to your inner guide, and being open to guidance.  Once you simply express your willingness to be guided – your decision that things can be different – the path will open up to you.  You can mediate, practice yoga, pray, write, call a friend to ask for help, and things will shift.

We practiced the powerful Kundalini meditation to Expand into Intuitive Knowing.  We were definitely vibrating with the cosmos as 100+ spirit junkies chanted the mantra “Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad” along to the gorgeous music.
